Always The Unusual
Sharp Farm Plowing
There is an unusual plowing pattern in the fields of the Sharp Farm and adjacent property owned by Westerville.
When the Westerville Industry and Commerce Corporation (WICC) purchased the 88 acres of land east of Africa Road it inherited the CAUV agricultural tax designation and continued to farm the land until sold to developers who then inherit any recoupment taxes
Most of the property grows hay which is where the unusual plowing happened. Each strip of plowed land is approximately ten feet wide with each strip about 50 feet apart. The strips will need to be reseeded in the spring.
The land was plowed to test the soil for its composition for future use according the Christa Dickey, Westerville’s Community Affairs Director.
