Concerts & Live Music
Sounds of Summer Concert Series
Sundays, Aug. 3, 10, 17, 24 | 6:30–8:00 PM
Alum Creek Park North Amphitheater, 221 W. Main St.
Westerville’s free Sunday concert tradition continues. Bring blankets or lawn chairs, grab a picnic, and settle in under the summer sky.
August lineup:
Aug. 3: Westerville Concert Band – Patriotic marches and light classical favorites.
Aug. 10: Heatwave: The Music of Linda Ronstadt – A tribute to one of rock and country’s icons.
Aug. 17: Westerville Jazz Orchestra – Big-band swing and jazz standards.
Aug. 24: Westerville Symphony – Light classical selections for a perfect summer evening.
Tip: Arrive early for the best lawn spots. Uptown eateries make excellent pre-show stops.
Disney’s Alice in Wonderland Jr. on Stage August 1-2
Generations Performing Arts Center and Mouth of the Wolf Productions present Disney’s Alice in Wonderland Jr. at the McConnell Arts Center, August 1-2, 2025.
The family-friendly production is based on the 1951 Disney film and Lewis Carroll’s classic novels Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass. The show features music adapted and arranged by Bryan Louiselle, with additional lyrics by David Simpatico, bringing beloved characters like Alice, the White Rabbit, and the Mad Hatter to life in a lively musical format.
Lunchbox Concerts Continue in August
Free live music returns to the Java Central Brick Walk, 20 S. State St., Uptown Westerville, every Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. through September 24. In case of heat or rain, performances move indoors to the stage at Java Central.
August features a variety of performers:
Aug. 6 – Brady Fulton and Brickwalk Nights bring an eclectic mix with vocals, ukulele, guitar, and saxophone.
Aug. 13 – Dave Hawkins, a Nashville touring and recording singer-songwriter with nine albums, now living in Columbus, takes the stage.
Aug. 20 – Ken Parsons and Bob May present an eclectic set with expert guitar work, including flat picking and fingerstyle, along with standout vocals.
Aug. 27 – Blueswing delivers a jazzy, bluesy, swinging program featuring music from the 1920s to modern times, performed by a quartet on vocals, guitar, banjo, and bass.
The Lunchbox Concert Series runs through September with genres ranging from folk to bluegrass.
Saturday Nights at Java Central Bring August’s Live Music
Java Central, 20 S. State St. in Uptown Westerville, hosts live music every Saturday in August from 7 to 9:30 p.m.
The August Saturday schedule includes:
Aug. 2 – Lil’ Red and the Rooster deliver upbeat blues and jazz with roots in France and Westerville. Vocalist Jennifer Milligan and guitarist Pascal Fouquet have performed at Buddy Guy’s Legends in Chicago and were finalists in the International Blues Challenge.
Aug. 9 – John Morgan, a fingerstyle guitarist and singer, brings his mix of originals and classics. Morgan is an acclaimed performer and former Artist-in-Residence at Riverside Hospital.
Aug. 16 – Java Jazz with Byron Stripling and Bobby Floyd features world-class jazz. Stripling, Artistic Director of the Columbus Jazz Orchestra, and Floyd, a Grammy-nominated pianist, lead an evening of swing and soul.
Aug. 23 – Walhalla Ramblers offer a bluegrass set with seasoned musicians on banjo, guitar, mandolin, and vocals.
Aug. 30 – Ken Parsons with Bob May closes the month with an eclectic singer-songwriter performance blending fingerstyle guitar and surprising repertoire from Gershwin to Pink Floyd.
Uptown Friday Nights
Aug. 1, 8, 15, 29 | 6:30–8:30 PM | Uptown Westerville
Live music and art pop up throughout Uptown every Friday (except the big Fourth Friday celebration later this month). Great for an evening stroll and some spontaneous shopping.
Festivals & Fairs
Uptown Untapped Craft Beer Festival
Saturday, Aug. 9 | 6:00–10:00 PM | East Main Street, Uptown
Ohio craft beer meets Uptown’s historic charm. Sample brews from 18 Ohio breweries, grab eats from local restaurants, and enjoy live music by Lt. Dan’s New Legs and Billy Brown. Play giant Jenga, foosball, and cornhole while you sip.
Early Admission Tasting Hour: $50 ticket gets you in at 5 PM with a keepsake tasting glass.
Full Pours: $6 after 6 PM.
This adults-only (21+) event runs rain or shine, and every ticket helps support Uptown Westerville’s preservation and community programming.
Mount Carmel St. Ann’s Fourth Friday Festival
Friday, Aug. 22 | 6:00–9:00 PM | Uptown Westerville
Westerville’s signature summer street festival returns. Expect 10,000+ visitors, 100+ vendors, food trucks, and Uptown shops staying open late.
Main Stage: Rockhouse cranks out ’80s rock from 6:30–8:30 PM.
Science Street: Hands-on experiments and a mobile COSI exhibit.
Roving Entertainment: Balloon artists, DJs, and pop-up acts.
DORA Beverages: Enjoy a drink as you explore.
Plan ahead—streets close at 4 PM. Use the Westerville Parking App or grab a COTA Plus shuttle for easy access.
Educational & Cultural Highlights
Bishop William Hanby’s Role in the Whiskey Wars
Saturday, Aug. 2 | 1:00–4:00 PM | Hanby House, 160 W. Main St.
Step back to 1875, when Westerville exploded in protest during the Whiskey Wars—a dramatic chapter that saw saloons bombed and temperance leaders rallying for a dry town.
Learn about Bishop William Hanby, his role in leading the movement, and why Westerville earned the name “Dry Capital of the World.” The program includes a guided tour of Hanby House and an illustrated talk about the Whiskey Wars’ lasting impact.
Composting with Worms Workshop
Monday, Aug. 11 | 6:30–7:30 PM | Westerville Public Library
Turn kitchen scraps into garden gold. Franklin County Master Gardeners explain the basics of vermicomposting in this hands-on, eco-friendly class.
Markets & Community Events
Westerville Saturday Farmers Market
Every Saturday in August | 9:00 AM–12:00 PM | South State Street
Fresh produce, artisan goods, flowers, and more—straight from local farms. Shop early for sweet corn, heirloom tomatoes, and baked treats. DORA cups are allowed, so enjoy a stroll with your favorite Uptown beverage.
National Night Out
Tuesday, Aug. 5 | 6:00–8:00 PM | Huber Village Park
A nationwide event that builds community-police partnerships. In Westerville: music, free food, games for all ages, and the chance to meet local officers. Family fun meets neighborhood safety.
ReUse-A-Palooza
Saturday, Aug. 30 | 8:00 AM–6:00 PM | Citywide
Give your stuff a second life. Place clean, usable items curbside for others to take—free of charge. It’s a citywide treasure hunt that keeps goods out of landfills and builds community connections.
