Brick Jig Saw Puzzle and Restaurants Now Open
City Hall Roadway Puzzle
Like a jigsaw puzzle with missing pieces or having more or fewer parts than needed, a paving company’s workers rebuilt the portion of the brick parking that was removed to install a water line for a sprinkler system at the renovation of City Hall. The curved sections of the lot posed challenges when trying to fit the smaller pieces of brick, which had been taken out for construction, into the new layout.
Ampersand Now Open
Megan Ada and Joshua Cook, owners of Asterisk Supper Club, have expanded their Uptown Westerville presence by opening Ampersand Asian Supper Club. Located on the ground floor of a new three-story building on West College Ave., the restaurant serves lunch and dinner.
Ampersand specializes in Guam- and Japanese-style ramen, rice bowls, small plates, Asian cocktails, Japanese beer, and saké. The menu highlights house-made broths, locally grown mushrooms, and ethically sourced pork. The original Ampersand location opened in Columbus’ Short North in 2019 and remains in operation.
Cook, a seasoned chef, spent a year perfecting the ramen recipes, inspired by Megan’s father, Jesse Ada. The new location features a modern, Asian-inspired design, contrasting with the literary-themed décor of Asterisk.
Ada began her restaurant career in 2010 with a Sunny Street Café franchise and opened Asterisk in 2016 after renovating a historic Westerville building.
Begin Announces Opening Day
Mike and Layla Tompkins plan to have another four days of soft opening at Begin Cafe on East Main Street, then remain open after reconfiguring the operation to meet the heavy demand.
After a three-day soft opening last weekend, the couple and their staff modified kitchen operations to be smoother and more efficient.
Roush Used Car Building Demolished
The building once occupied by Roush Honda's used car division on 3C Highway in Blendon Township has been demolished to make way for a trucking company warehouse. Tanglewood 6821 LLC, incorporated by President Tim Fyda of Fyda Freightliner, owns the lot.
