Central Ohio News Briefs - March 30-April 4, 2026
Genoa Township — Sewer extension plans to connect 30 East Oak Ridge homes to Westerville’s system drew concern from the township board over possible effects on emergency siren infrastructure.
Dublin — Construction on the Emerald Parkway tunnel west of Dublin Road was set to begin March 30, adding a new transportation project to the city’s spring agenda.
Dublin — Cardinal Health announced an expansion of its Actinium-225 production capacity, a significant investment tied to growing demand for cancer therapies.
Dublin — Sustainable Saturday on April 11, outdoor pool pass sales, an April 13 City Council meeting, and an April 24 Earth and Arbor Day celebration.
Sunbury — City leaders were considering a data center moratorium as of March 30. Two days later, Daryl Hennessy formally became city manager under Sunbury’s new charter, and parks officials discussed reopening J.R. Smith Park later this year after improvements.
Galena — A developer acquired Arrowhead Lakes Golf Course for $4.9 million on April 1 with plans to pursue what was described as a village-scale mixed-use project. City updates posted April 3 also pointed ahead to an April 15 Planning and Zoning Commission meeting, an April 18 Earth Day litter clean-up and a May 2 museum reopening.
Gahanna — Soul 2 Go announced a third central Ohio location at 134 N. Hamilton Road, with a grand opening planned for May 1 to 3. The city also posted updates on its Explore Guide, pool memberships, a regular City Council meeting on April 6, a Planning Commission meeting on April 8 and an April 18 Bike Rodeo.
Reynoldsburg — City updates continued to emphasize the Birchview Drive pavement project, along with an April 15 income tax deadline, an April 4 Civic Park clean-up and an April 25 Community Clean Up Day.
Hilliard — Hilliard approved its 2026 SAFE Sidewalk Program, starting a citywide assessment and upgrades across more than 200 miles of sidewalks. The city also highlighted its 2026 Street Maintenance and Rehabilitation Program, the April 11 One Hilliard Community Resource Fair and upcoming council, planning and zoning meetings.
Worthington — Worthington Steel was named a Columbus Top Workplace for the 14th straight year, and later announced a tender offer. City government also had Architectural Review Board and Municipal Planning Commission activity on the calendar, with the Board of Zoning Appeals set for April 2.
Worthington — A water main break closed State Route 161 on April 3 near Thomas Worthington High School before the road reopened by 12:45 p.m. the same day.
Powell — Lani Rooftop Lounge’s opening was announced March 31, and the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium scheduled its “Eggs, Paws and Claws” Easter event for April 3 and 4.
Grove City — A report on a congressional candidate’s arrest surfaced March 30, and the Aladdin Shrine Center Egg Hunt was scheduled for April 4.
Obetz — Obetz announced a limited pilot using trained adult alligators to deter geese at select ponds and also introduced a resident “No Knock List” to reduce solicitor visits. The community Easter Egg Hunt was scheduled for April 4.
Groveport — Groveport highlighted seasonal maintenance hiring and “First Thursdays,” and a non-league baseball game between St. Charles and Groveport-Madison was scheduled for April 1.
Harlem Township — Woodtown Road was scheduled to be closed as of March 30.
