One Hospitalized After Two-Vehicle Crash

One person was taken to the hospital following a two-vehicle crash Monday afternoon at the intersection of Sunbury Road and Central College.

Emergency crews from the Westerville Division of Police and Westerville Fire responded to the scene, where one of the vehicles had overturned. First responders worked quickly to stabilize the vehicle and assist the woman in the car, who was upside down, hanging by her seatbelt.

The person was transported to the hospital with unspecified injuries. No other injuries were reported at the time of the incident.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

Bicyclist Injured in Apparent Hit-and-Run

A bicyclist was injured Monday afternoon in an apparent hit-and-run crash near the intersection of McCorkle Boulevard and County Line Road, according to Westerville police.

Officers responded to the scene shortly after the incident occurred and temporarily closed the roadway to investigate. The road has since reopened.

Police say the crash was a hit-skip involving a car and a bicyclist. No information has been released regarding the condition of the cyclist or a description of the vehicle involved. Police officers examined the scene where an orange electric bicycle laid on its side, surrounded by debris.

Anyone with information about the crash is encouraged to contact the Westerville Division of Police.

Curb and Sidewalk Work on Birmingham Road

Reconstruction work is progressing on Birmingham Road as concrete crews excavate for new curbs, sidewalks, and ADA-compliant ramps at the intersection of Birmingham Road and Daleview Drive.

This work is part of a larger infrastructure project between Huber Village Boulevard and Daleview Drive. The project began in mid-April and includes complete roadway improvements, which have led to temporary closures.

Home Street Closure Set for Utility Work May 14

Home Street will be closed to all traffic between North State Street and Haywood Alley on Wednesday, May 14, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for scheduled utility work. Crews have already staged equipment and traffic control measures in the area following the completion of underground pipe installation on Hanby Alley, with Home Street now needing to be connected. Drivers and pedestrians are advised to use alternate routes.

The work is part of ongoing infrastructure improvements to install water lines supporting fire suppression systems and sprinklers in Uptown Westerville.
