East of Africa Update - Cables and Conduit
Slightly warmer weather has returned to East Africa, where several work crews started this week to finish underground utility relocation along the development's border.
The first section of overhead cables removed were private data cables on the city’s utility poles. All the cabling between County Line Road and Polaris Parkway was taken down on Tuesday.
Also, near the Yarnell Farm on Africa Road, workers were digging a deep trench for conduit along the east side of the road. Once the entire set of conduits is installed and the development is connected to the grid, the overhead power lines and poles along Africa Road will be removed.

The hole and conduits shown above are beneath a portion of a new road that will connect Westasr Boulevard to Africa Road.
No Injuries In Water Balloon Fight Last Year
Yesterday’s report of a problem involving a New York snowball fight, which police said injured two police officers, is reminiscent of last August’s water balloon fight at Huber Village Park between Westerville police and a large group of children.
National Night Out ended when the police were buried under a barrage of water balloons joyfully thrown by children, encouraged by eager officers. Every officer present got soaked by the children, including the chief and several assistant chiefs.

The Westerville News is a reader-supported publication by Gary Gardiner, a lifelong journalist who believes hyper-local reporting is the future of news. This publication focuses exclusively on Westerville—its local news, influence on Central Ohio, and how surrounding areas shape the community.
Reader funding, including subscribers, protects editorial independence, so coverage is guided by journalists rather than owners or corporate profit goals. It also reduces pressure to chase clicks, letting the newsroom focus on stories worth readers’ time. And it helps keep the site accessible to everyone, including people who can’t pay or live in places where a free press is under threat.
