Fox in the Snow Conversion Begins
Truck crashes into Allview home, Grapes, and Otterbein Graduation
A demolition team began gutting the interior of 79 South State Street to rebuild it as the fifth Fox in the Snow, a bakery and coffee shop with locations in Dublin, Italian Village, German Village, and New Albany.
The building, which previously housed Fusian Sushi restaurant and Cucinova Pizza, will become home to Fox in the Snow.
The restaurant received approval from the Westerville Uptown Review Board to modify the building, including removing the awnings and installing oversized signage on the exterior.
Fox in the Snow owner Jeff Excell said in an email, “We finally worked out the lease and went through permitting simultaneously; we gambled on it working out.” No opening date has yet been set.
Fox in the Snow and Corbin Mural Approved

Among the key approvals were modifications for a potential Fox in the Snow restaurant on South State Street and a mural on the side of Uptown Deli & Brew. Truck Crashes Into House
A Westerville man was arrested early Monday morning after crashing his pickup truck into a house on Allview Road while allegedly under the influence of alcohol.
Police say Curtis Livingston, the driver of a silver Ram 1500, struck the front of a row-condemned residence just after 1:30 a.m. Responding officers found the truck still running and significant structural damage to the home. A second vehicle, a Chevrolet Cobalt, was also hit and heavily damaged nearly 500 feet away, suggesting high speed.
Officers observed signs of intoxication and conducted field sobriety tests, during which Livingston showed multiple signs of impairment. He later refused a chemical test and was charged with Operating a Vehicle Impaired and Failure to Control.
No injuries were reported inside the home. The damaged vehicles were towed from the scene, and Livingston was taken to the Franklin County Jail following medical clearance.

The Review
Today's Chilean grapes are smaller and sweeter than the previous several weeks' crop. Meijer's grapes were almost sold out, with only the dregs left in the display cases. I passed on Market District because I already had Kroger grapes at $.30 a pound less. Walmart grapes were also more expensive, and they appeared to have been delayed in transport. Nothing from Marc's and Aldi, as my travels were delayed by a car crash.
Kroger grapes are exceptionally sweet, more crisp than any other this season, and slightly smaller. Perhaps the smaller size has squeezed a large grape amount of sugar into a smaller package, accentuating sweetness.
I have no way to measure grapes' pH, but these have an alkaline aftertaste that begins to cover the sweetness after the initial taste. It's strong and can't be avoided or overwritten by the sugars. The mingling of sweet and tart brings a new dimension to a weekly grape experience and will only make next week's report more interesting.
Rain Moves Ceremony Indoors, but Graduates Shine at May 4 Commencement
Nearly 600 students awarded degrees during spirited indoor event
Despite rain forcing the line-up and procession indoors, the Otterbein University’s May 4 commencement ceremonies celebrated the achievements of hundreds of graduates.
A total of 590 degrees were awarded, including 492 undergraduate diplomas, 61 master’s degrees, and 37 Doctor of Nursing Practice degrees. Many of the graduates participated in the ceremony, cheered on by family, friends, and faculty.
Although the weather altered some logistics, it did little to affect the celebratory atmosphere.
