Holiday Evergreens

One of the 30 decorated Christmas trees in Uptown Westerville sits in front of Stone & Sparrow just north of Main Street. Each tree has a battery-powered string of lights that turn on at sunset and last into the evening for shoppers in Uptown.

This is the first year trees are placed in front of participating merchant’s stores.

Sponsored by the Westerville Lions Club, Uptown Westerville Inc., and the Westerville Uptown Merchants Association, the trees were installed by volunteers who built the stands and placed the lights and blankets.

Testing 30 strings of lights required setting each to turn on at the same time which meant many hands simultaneously activating push-button switches through the eight possible display settings to get to the constant-on position. The timer is automatic each day once set.

Uptown Merchants are closed on Thanksgiving Day.
