Market Cornucopia, Concerts To End Soon, and Car Crash Ends Up Upside Down
Market Is Plentiful
There is no better way to spend a Saturday morning than at the market on South State Street, pinching, smelling, sorting, and selecting the freshest fruits, vegetables, cakes, pies, breads, meats, honey, and maple syrup from central Ohio farmers, bakers, and growers.
This might be the best weekend to pick up all those items, as the tomatoes are at their peak and the sweet corn is nearly out of season. The breads and cheeses are always fresh. The maple syrup and honey are perfect complements for breakfast.
Plenty of parking in the church plot across the street.
Westerville Concerts Feature Westerville Musicians
There are only two more Sunday concerts at the Alum Creek Amphitheater.
The Westerville Community Band will wrap up its hot but memorable summer at the amphitheater this Sunday with an evening of music led by Musical Director Don Nathan.
The program will feature vocalist Dawn Eller along with solo performances by Charlie Vidourek, John Ruth, Jordan Williams, Ed Meyer, Rick McGrath, Lori Coffey, Rich Barrett, and Dan Laney, according to the orchestra.
Selections include Softly As In a Morning Sunrise, Moonlight Serenade, Over the Rainbow, Stormy Weather, Blue Skies, and Every Summer Night, concluding with Autumn Leaves as a nod to the coming season.
The orchestra urges concertgoers to bring lawn chairs, snacks, and beverages for the free performance, which promises a mix of jazz standards and summer favorites.
Next Sunday concludes the concert series with the Westerville Symphony concert rescheduled from July 29.
Car Crash At Africa and Polaris
A crash involving two cars sent one person to the hospital and one car upside down after it struck electrical boxes in front of Sycamore Park.
Police are continuing to investigate the crash, where it appeared a car turning left struck the second car, sending it careening into the electric boxes. The driver of the upended car was not injured, saying when told she was lucky, “Luck had nothing to do with it. When I got hit, I said, ‘Jesus, take the wheel.’”
