National Night Out At Huber Village Park Tonight | Middlefield Canopy Missing
Last year’s National Night Out ended with a water-balloon fight between police officers and children, soaking nearly everyone except the parents.
After the event ended in a splash, residents will have another chance to connect with local officers and neighbors at tomorrow’s National Night Out, which will feature an evening of family activities.
The balloons sat in cattle-watering troughs until the command to launch set off a spirited battle. Dozens of children grabbed balloons and charged into the fight as Police Chief Holly Murchland, cadets, lieutenants, patrol officers and other department staff joined in.
Officers ducked, covered their heads and fired back while children cheered and rushed to reload. The contest was less about winning than about strengthening connections between young residents and law enforcement.
The event drew a large crowd and concluded with a prize raffle, but the laughter and camaraderie shared across the park proved to be the biggest reward.
National Night Out at Huber Village Park begins at 6 pm and ends at 8 pm.
Missing Middlefield Mesa
A demolition crew removed the drive-thru canopy at the rear of the Old Middlefield Bank in Uptown on Monday, marking the first step in a project beginning next summer to revitalize the parking and roadway between West Main and West College.
