Joseph Carl Vulpio Jr.
October 10, 1967 – August 6, 2026
Joseph Carl “Joe” Vulpio Jr., 58, of Westerville, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on Aug. 6, 2026. He was born in Parma to Joseph C. Vulpio Sr. and Mary Lou Sculley Vulpio. He graduated from Midpark High School in 1986 and later attended The Ohio State University.
Football officiating was a major part of Joe’s life for 38 years. He officiated high school football throughout Ohio, including four state championship games, and spent five years officiating at the collegiate level. Fellow officials knew him for his fairness, integrity, and respect for the game.
Joe worked for many years as a recreation therapist at London Correctional Institution before becoming owner and operator of an EmbroidMe franchise in Dublin. He later worked at Blue Compass RV in Delaware.
An avid sports fan, Joe followed the Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland teams. He also enjoyed cruising, camping, bowling, traveling, music, and gatherings with family and friends. Known as “Joepa,” he was outgoing, enjoyed telling stories and debating sports, and had a habit of giving friends nicknames.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Crosbie; brother Jeff Vulpio and June Vulpio; niece Marissa Vulpio; nephews William Vulpio, Cody Crosbie, Ashton Crosbie, and Xavier Crosbie; his wife’s family; former wife Laura Miller; and extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sept. 8 at Newcomer Funeral Home, Northeast Chapel, 3047 E. Dublin-Granville Road, Columbus, followed by a memorial service from 4 to 5 p.m.
David Wayne Doran
March 8, 1958 – August 27, 2026
David Wayne Doran, 68, of Westerville, Ohio, passed away Aug. 27, 2026, at home surrounded by family. He was born in Westerville to Denny F. Doran and Carrie C. McMillin.
David was an entrepreneur and founded D & L Plumbing in 1987. He built a reputation for hard work, problem-solving, and dedication to his trade, and he enjoyed teaching others what he had learned.
He was also committed to coaching and mentoring young people and was regarded as a father figure by many. David believed in leading by example and was known for his strength, optimism, and sense of humor.
He lived with cancer for the final 12 years of his life and continued working, mentoring, and supporting those around him throughout that time.
David will be remembered for his work ethic, generosity, humor, and commitment to helping others.
Justin David Vogel
December 20, 1989 – August 20, 2026
Justin David Vogel, 36, of Westerville, Ohio, passed away Aug. 20, 2026. He was born in Jacksonville, Florida, and grew up in Westerville, where he graduated from Westerville North High School in 2008.
Justin was a skilled craftsman and artist who took pride in careful, detailed work. He also enjoyed playing and listening to music and was known for his wit, humor, and kind nature.
His greatest joy was spending time with his son, Logan. The two shared interests in fishing, Legos, rock collecting, and searching for arrowheads.
Justin is survived by his son, Logan Lee Vogel; mother Julie Clem and Jeff Clem; father Jeff Vogel and Teresa Vogel; siblings Jessica Vogel, Jacob Miller, and Jordan Martin and Chaz Martin; several grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, C. David Vogel.
Justin will be remembered for his craftsmanship, creativity, humor, and devotion to his son and family.
Susan Jane Northrup
June 5, 1943 – August 27, 2026
Susan Jane Northrup, 83, of Westerville, Ohio, passed away peacefully Aug. 27, 2026, surrounded by family. She was born in St. Clair, Michigan, and retained a strong affection for her home state throughout her life.
Susan worked in several roles over the years but was especially known for caring for children, both through her daycare work and as a grandmother.
She was creative and artistic, with a talent for crafts and making ordinary things beautiful. She enjoyed the color purple, blooming flowers, and spending time with family.
Susan will be remembered for her caregiving, creativity, and devotion to those she loved.
Janet M. Pohlman
September 14, 1945 – September 4, 2026
Janet M. Pohlman, 80, of Westerville, Ohio, and formerly of Wayne and Bradner, passed away Sept. 4, 2026, at home surrounded by family. She was born in Fostoria to Harold and Lena Mardel Drake Hull and graduated from Fostoria High School.
She married Daniel P. Pohlman on Oct. 15, 1966, at Fostoria Baptist Church. They were married nearly 55 years before his death in 2021.
Janet enjoyed crocheting, baking cakes, and playing cards with friends. She especially valued time with her family and took pride in creating things for others.
She is survived by her children, Heather Umbaugh and Chris Umbaugh, and Tom Pohlman; grandchildren Grace Sandoval and Marina Sandoval, Chloe Morrissey and Brenden Morrissey, Mason Pohlman, and Owen Pohlman; and half-brother Norman Anderson.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; twin sister Janice Hull; brother Leroy Hull; and half-brother William Anderson.
Janet will be remembered for her creativity, generosity, and devotion to family.
