Roast Beef Is Back!
The Arby’s at the corner of Maxtown and 3C Highway opened Wednesday after several months of repairs and upgrades. The last update was to attach the sign to the front of the building while people made their way through the drive-thru.
As soon as the last item on the pick list is completed expect work to begin on the Arby’s on South State. That’s the one next to McDonald’s and the subject of much discussion on social media.
The first step in the renovation is to demolish the old building and start over. Yep, they're tearing down the one that’s gotten the most comments on social media and building a new one. Expect new commentary to lament the loss of the iconic Arby’s building.
The replacement Arby’s will look a lot like the one at Maxtown and 3C. No plans for major changes at the Arby’s on Sunbury Road. Yet.
The Continuance will order the Big Game Burger.
Sugarbee’s Closed
Sugarbee’s, the artisan chocolate shop in Uptown Westerville, is closed. Its Facebook page is still active but a sign on the door says they were on vacation and expected to return earlier this week. They didn’t.
It was the store that took over selling Shirley’s Popcorn after it closed but no word yet on who in Uptown may inherit the popcorn.
The Continuance will miss the antioxidants. All of them.
All Smoke. No Fire.
Westerville firefighters responded Wednesday afternoon to an alarm in Uptown when the resident of an apartment above Asterisk smelled smoke after turning on the building’s HVAC system. Ladder 111 deployed its aerial system for easy access to the roof. Two engines were stationed at hydrants on Main and College on standby if needed. The police department rerouted traffic around the blocked section of State Street.
All the units were cleared from the scene after determining the smoky smell came from minor dust and debris in the HVAC electrical system.
The Continuance got to stand in the middle of State Street without fear.
