Ready For The Weekend's Wanderings?
Farmers Market Opens Saturday
The windy and cold weather this week doesn’t make anyone think of the summer Uptown Farmers Market with its array of fruits, vegetables, pasties, coffees, meats, and pickles, but it begins Saturday morning at 9 am at COhatch and North High Brewing on South State Street.
Get there early for the season’s ribbon-cutting at 9 am.
Frog Friday, Week Two
The second 2026 Frog Friday is set for this Friday at 8 p.m. at Highlands Wetlands, 245 S. Spring Road.
Nature lovers are invited to spend the evening learning about frogs, their calls, and the wetland habitats they depend on. After a brief introduction, participants will head into the wetland to explore on their own and experience the sights and sounds of the season.
The program offers a chance to learn more about local wildlife while enjoying an evening outdoors. Bring your own mud boots and lights, but nets and buckets will be provided
Wetlands Wonders At Highlands
After you’ve spent Friday evening looking for and finding frogs, return Saturday morning at 10-noon to Highlands Wetlands for a workshop about the important ecological display on South Spring. Amphibians and reptiles will be supplied.
Vine Street Curtain Of Color
The 7th Annual Vine Street Art Walk will take place Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. along North Vine Street in Westerville.
Residents will turn their front yards into small galleries for the evening, displaying artwork and offering fun activities for visitors of all ages. Guests are invited to wander the historic street, take in the creativity on display, and enjoy the warmth of a neighborhood gathering.
Sharon and Innis Woods’ History
A presentation on the history and establishment of Sharon Woods and Inniswood Metro Parks will be held on Friday, May 15, at 7 p.m. at the Senior Center on Cleveland Avenue.
Naturalists Jennifer Rounds and Gabrielle Powers will share the unique stories behind the creation and development of the two popular parks, offering a closer look at the places many residents know and enjoy today.
Attendees should enter only through the south side door. The event is free and open to the public.
Tunnel to Towers
The Tunnel to Towers Foundation 5K Run & Walk will be held Sunday, May 17, 2026, at the Westerville Sports Complex, 325 N. Cleveland Ave.
The run begins at 9 a.m. The event is part of the foundation’s National Run, Walk & Climb Series, which honors America’s heroes and was inspired by the Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk in New York City, retracing FDNY Firefighter Stephen Siller’s final footsteps on Sept. 11.

The Westerville News is a reader-supported publication by Gary Gardiner, a lifelong journalist who believes hyper-local reporting is the future of news. This publication focuses exclusively on Westerville—its local news, influence on Central Ohio, and how surrounding areas shape the community.
Reader funding, including subscribers, protects editorial independence, so coverage is guided by journalists rather than owners or corporate profit goals. It also reduces pressure to chase clicks, letting the newsroom focus on stories worth readers’ time. And it helps keep the site accessible to everyone, including people who can’t pay or live in places where a free press is under threat.
