Columbus
Housing construction begins near Ohio State airport: Construction has started on a 336-unit apartment community at 2575 W. Dublin-Granville Road in northwest Columbus. It is part of a larger development expected to include nearly 500 apartments and townhomes near Ohio State University Airport.
Dublin
Former superintendent joining Ohio State: Former Dublin City Schools Superintendent John Marschhausen is expected to join Ohio State University as its first assistant vice provost for academic program pathways, pending approval by the university’s Board of Trustees. He will work on partnerships connecting academic programs with workforce opportunities.
Wayfair outlet planned: Wayfair plans to open an outlet store at 6765 Dublin Center Drive. The store will sell open-box, returned and overstock merchandise. Hiring has begun, but an opening date has not been announced.
Park Pass program returns: Dublin has brought back its Park Pass program, which rewards park visits with limited-edition posters created by local artists. The program continues through Sept. 30.
Gahanna
Industrial property sells for $42 million: Dogwood Industrial Properties purchased the approximately 297,000-square-foot Eastgate Business Center in Gahanna from Scannell Properties for $42 million. The industrial property has multiple tenants.
1927 time capsule discovered: A time capsule dating to 1927 was uncovered when the cornerstone of the former Gahanna Lincoln High School was removed for relocation. The capsule contained historical documents and newspaper clippings. The Gahanna Historical Society is preserving and cataloging the materials and plans a public presentation Sept. 8.
Three arrested in robbery investigation: Reynoldsburg police arrested two juveniles, ages 14 and 17, and 19-year-old Cipher-Allah Adams-El following a multiagency investigation involving Reynoldsburg and Gahanna police. All three were charged with aggravated robbery in connection with robberies and vehicle break-ins.
Grove City
Father and alleged abuse suspect face separate charges: Malik Chandler, 31, has pleaded not guilty to charges accusing him of shooting Diego Montoya Gonzalez, 20, after allegedly luring him to a Grove City home through a social-media account. Chandler was placed on electronic monitoring.
Gonzalez survived the shooting and was arrested about a week later on separate charges involving the alleged sexual assault of a minor and sexually oriented material involving children. He also has pleaded not guilty.
Harlem Township
Anniversary celebration and township festival scheduled: Glass Rooster Cannery celebrated its 15th anniversary Aug. 8 with food, games and square dancing. Harlem Township Day is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 15 at Harlem Township Community Park, 3858 S. State Route 605.
CEDA hearing scheduled in Galena: An open hearing on the proposed Cooperative Economic Development Agreement between Harlem Township and the Village of Galena is scheduled for 6 p.m. Aug. 24 at Galena Village Hall, 109 Harrison St. The agreement would establish a system for coordinating development, services and tax revenue without merging the two governments.
Hilliard
Indoor pickleball complex nearing completion: Pickleball Kingdom expects to open a 36,000-square-foot indoor facility at 4500 Britton Parkway in late August. The complex will have 15 courts, locker rooms, showers, instruction, leagues and space for private events.
Minerva Park
Village completes seasonal maintenance: Minerva Park conducted dead-tree removal Aug. 4 and 5 and scheduled mosquito spraying for Aug. 6.
Obetz
Hundreds of homes planned at Buckstone: Grand Communities, a Cincinnati-area residential developer, plans to build 346 homes within Buckstone, the proposed $1 billion mixed-use development in Obetz. The residential project would include several types of single-family housing.
Powell
Traffic program reports fewer violations: Powell police say traffic violations and the severity of crashes along Sawmill Parkway have declined in 2026. The results continue improvements reported after the city introduced its S.A.F.E. traffic initiative in 2025.
State brownfield funding applications opening: State Rep. Brian Lorenz of Powell announced that applications for Ohio’s Brownfield Remediation Program will open Aug. 11. Approximately $120 million is available statewide for cleaning and redeveloping contaminated or abandoned properties.
Liberty Township
Three-way stop installed: A three-way stop has been installed at Rutherford and Steitz roads in Liberty Township following a recommendation from the Delaware County Engineer. Flashing warning signs have been placed in advance of the intersection.
Reynoldsburg
Records detail license-plate camera misuse: Internal investigations found that two former Reynoldsburg police officers conducted dozens of unauthorized searches using the city’s Flock license-plate camera system. Investigators attributed 47 unauthorized searches to one officer and 53 to another. Both officers resigned, and the matter was referred to the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation.

Sunbury
Ohio State recruit returns to Wayne: Five-star Ohio State football recruit Jamier Brown has transferred from Big Walnut High School back to Huber Heights Wayne. Brown is eligible for the first five games of the season. The Ohio High School Athletic Association is expected to review his status with his family and Big Walnut before Week 6.
West Jefferson
RaceTrac travel center expected to open this fall: RaceTrac expects to open a large travel center at 2 Commerce Parkway in West Jefferson this fall. The location will serve motorists and commercial drivers with gasoline, diesel fuel, truck parking and other services. A smaller RaceTrac store at 5811 Gender Road in the Canal Winchester area is expected to open later in 2026.
Worthington
Rusty Bucket holds 1990s-themed collection drive: Rusty Bucket’s “Saved by the Bucket” promotion continues through Aug. 30 at 7800 Olentangy River Road. The restaurant has added 1990s-themed food, drinks, games and decorations. It also is collecting school supplies, clothing and hygiene products for Student Success Stores.
