Uptown Westerville’s Growth Spurs Creation of New Administrative Role
After a year that drew nearly 175,000 visitors to Uptown Westerville and generated more than $6 million in economic impact, Uptown Westerville Inc. is expanding its team to keep pace with demand.
The nonprofit announced it is hiring a new Administrative Coordinator, a role created to address the growing scale of its events, partnerships, and community programs.
The position follows a banner year outlined in UWI’s 2025 Annual Report, which highlighted how an emphasis on experiences rather than traditional retail has fueled attendance and engagement across Uptown Westerville.
“As Uptown Westerville continues to grow, adding this position allows us to be more responsive, organized, and present for our business partners and the community,” said UWI Executive Director Lynn Aventino. “We’ll also be posting a position for a Saturday Market Manager early next week.”
In 2025, Uptown Westerville Inc. organized 62 events, including Fourth Friday, the Westerville Saturday Farmers Market, Uptown Untapped, Uptown Ghost Tours, and seasonal holiday programming. Total attendance across these events reached 174,450, with about 40 percent of visitors coming from outside Westerville.
That growth has increased the behind-the-scenes work required to keep programs running smoothly. From responding to business and resident inquiries to coordinating volunteers, managing ticketing, and ensuring compliance for programs like the Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area (DORA), administrative demands have expanded alongside attendance.
The new Administrative Coordinator will serve as a front-line point of contact for the organization, handling office administration, supporting business partnership renewals and benefits, assisting with event logistics, and providing customer service for vendors, volunteers, and community members. The role will also include on-site support during events.
Uptown Westerville’s success is also tied to strong community involvement. In 2025, UWI partnered with 26 community organizations, worked with 276 small business pop-up vendors, and coordinated dozens of entertainers. Hundreds of volunteers supported events throughout the year, with Uptown Untapped alone requiring nearly 150.
City officials have reaffirmed their support for the organization, extending the city’s partnership agreement for an additional three years and continuing staff and financial assistance. That stability has allowed UWI to focus on strengthening internal operations while planning for future growth.
The Administrative Coordinator position is part-time, with up to 20 hours per week and occasional evening and weekend hours tied to events. The upcoming Saturday Market Manager role reflects the continued growth of the Westerville Saturday Farmers Market, which generated more than $1.2 million in economic impact in 2025 and has become one of Uptown’s most visible weekly gatherings.
As Uptown Westerville looks ahead to expanded programming and increased regional competition, Aventino said investing in staffing is a necessary step.
