Veterans Day Events Pay Tribute to Sacrifice and Service. First Snowfall's Color.
Westerville held its Veterans Day ceremonies Tuesday, beginning at sunrise with an honor guard leading the wreath laying at the Veterans Memorial on Cleveland Avenue and concluding with a bugler playing “Taps.”
Following the chilly morning ceremonies, the city hosted a breakfast at the Renaissance Hotel, where veterans gathered in the main ballroom to hear speakers thank them for their sacrifice and service. A choir honored them by performing each branch of the military’s anthem. Westerville Mayor Kenneth Wright read a proclamation recognizing all veterans for their role in preserving peace and for their contributions to the city’s growth.
Posing for a group photo at the end required workers to remove rows of breakfast tables so the city’s photographer could get a wide enough angle to capture the entire group. Most attendees stood in place after being directed to their positions, while a few sat in chairs in the front row.
