David Brian Love
1962 – March 19, 2026
David Brian Love, 63, of Mount Gilead, Ohio, passed away March 19, 2026, at Riverside Hospital in Columbus. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lavonne Love; grandparents Roscoe and Grace Love and Virgil and Bessie Perry; and niece Courtney Short.
After graduating from Westerville High School, Dave served in the United States Marine Corps with the 22nd Marine Amphibious Unit and was deployed to Beirut, Lebanon, and Grenada in the 1980s. He later worked at Nationwide Insurance as an armed security officer while pursuing a law enforcement career, and also served with the Alexandria and Gahanna police departments. He eventually returned to Nationwide as a computer operator at the company’s data center.
Dave is survived by his father, Roscoe Love Jr.; siblings Loren Love and Jennifer Love, Kathy Short and Phil Short, and Jeff Love; nephews Ryan Love and Carly Love, and Trevor Short and Lauren Short; nieces Kelsey Skrobot and Nick Skrobot, and Lindsey Fausey and Jon Fausey; longtime friend Tim Butcher and Marie Butcher; and Claire Butcher and Bradley Butcher, whom he helped raise.
In retirement, Dave devoted himself to camping, hiking, reading, and caring for animals. He will also be remembered by those who knew him through his faithful companions, Quincy and Nibbles.
Charlene Marie Short Hammond
November 27, 1939 – April 5, 2026
Charlene Marie Short Hammond, 86, of Westerville, passed away Easter Sunday, April 5, 2026. She was born in 1939 and was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Elsie Short; her brother, David Short; and her son-in-law, Gregory J. Fester.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Charles “Jack” Hammond; daughters Jackie Whalen, Julie Fester and Joe Fester, Linda Frey and Douglas Frey, and Beth Ramsey and Jeff Ramsey; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Marcia Short, Shirley Sharp and Hal Sharp, and Eva Hammond; brother-in-law James Hammond; and many other family members and friends.
Charlene graduated from Westerville High School in 1957 and from The Ohio State University School of Nursing in 1961. She worked in public health nursing, with special needs children in Columbus City Schools, and in her husband’s dental practice. She was a lifelong member of Central College Presbyterian Church and volunteered throughout the community.
She loved travel, beach trips, Europe, and cheering for the Buckeyes. Charlene will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, woman of strong faith, and a generous presence whose kindness touched many lives.
Delsa Mae Evans
May 16, 1934 – April 4, 2026
Delsa Mae Evans, 91, of Westerville, Ohio, passed away peacefully April 4, 2026. She was born in Webb, West Virginia, to Lawrence and Hazel Chaffin and was one of 13 children.
A devoted wife and mother, Delsa enjoyed cooking, gardening, and especially spending time with her family. She retired from Westerville Schools, where she worked as a cafeteria employee.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ellis Evans, and grandsons Gary Lee Evans and Michael Hughes.
She is survived by her sons David Evans of Carroll and Gary Evans of Johnstown; daughter Sandy Birtcher and Gary Birtcher of Columbus; grandchildren James, Kimberly, Carie, Kelly, Joshua, and Amy; 17 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; brother Charles Chaffin and Pat Chaffin; and sister Beulah Gross.
Arland Linzey Witt Jr.
October 31, 1962 – April 7, 2026
Arland Linzey Witt Jr., known to many as Arnie, passed away April 7, 2026. Born in Columbus, Ohio, he was remembered for his humor, faith, and deep love for family and friends.
Arnie attended Westerville North High School and was a member of the Class of 1981. He played football for Westerville North and also participated in the All Ohio State Fair Youth Choir. He carried that same sense of energy, loyalty, and fellowship throughout his life.
A Christian man, Arnie was known for his quick wit, warm personality, and ability to bring laughter to those around him. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, dancing, watching the Buckeyes, and especially spending time with family.
He was preceded in death by his father, Arland Witt Sr.; his mother, Virginia Witt; and his daughter, Amanda.
He is survived by his twin brother, Larry; sisters Kim and Jenny Kay; and his children, Jamie, Brennan, and Shyanne. He will be remembered for his spirited nature, strong faith, and the joy he brought to those who knew him.
Gerald “Jerry” Allen Kuhlman
September 13, 1939 – March 28, 2026
Gerald “Jerry” Allen Kuhlman, 86, of Westerville, Ohio, passed away March 28, 2026. He was born in Lima, Ohio, to Harold and Helen McCartney Kuhlman. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Dennis Kuhlman, and sister-in-law Ruth Kuhlman.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Peggy Merideth Kuhlman; sons Patrick Kuhlman and Amy P. Kuhlman, and Brian Kuhlman and Amy T. Kuhlman; grandchildren Schuyler Coulter and Gordon Coulter, Shaye Kuhlman and fiancé Ross Jones, Beauregard Kuhlman and fiancé Reannah McGinnis, Mason Kuhlman, Rhiannon Kuhlman, Zachary Kuhlman, Gage Kuhlman, and Joshua Kuhlman; great-grandchildren Jude and Maya Kuhlman; brother Larry Kuhlman; and nephews Scott and Steve Kuhlman.
A 1957 graduate of Miller City High School, Jerry joined the Navy Reserves while still in school and later completed his military service in the Air Force in North Dakota. After serving his country, he worked for City Loan and Savings in Defiance and later for GMAC in Lima and Columbus. He was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Westerville and the Knights of Columbus.
Jerry was a lifelong sports fan who enjoyed basketball, baseball, sports cars, and following his children, grandchildren, and the Ohio State Buckeyes. He especially loved fishing on Lake Erie, where he spent many happy hours taking family and friends out on his boat in search of walleye and perch.
Neil Alan Gorsuch
August 10, 1937 – April 8, 2026
Neil Alan Gorsuch, 88, of Westerville, Ohio, passed away April 8, 2026, from heart failure. Born in Westerville, he graduated from Westerville High School in 1955 and went on to work as a splicer for Ohio Bell. He was known for his practical skill, creativity, and ability to build or repair nearly anything.
Neil was a devoted Ohio State Buckeyes fan and a gifted athlete in his youth, lettering 12 times in football, basketball, track, and baseball. He later enjoyed golf, fishing, boating, and time with friends at Hoover Reservoir’s Buckeye Boat Club. A lifelong lover of the outdoors, he fulfilled a dream of country living after raising his family, building a barn, driving his tractor, and living in a home he designed himself.
A Christian, Neil found comfort in gospel music in his later years. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Judith Ann Shicks Gorsuch; children Alan Gorsuch and Leslie Gorsuch, Ann Gorsuch Spore and Jan Spore, Barry Gorsuch and Debbie Gorsuch, Betty Gorsuch Hall and Gary Hall, and Scott Gorsuch and Nicole Gorsuch; 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He will be remembered for his steady presence, strong hands, deep love for family, and a life filled with hard work, humor, and faith.
