Michael A. Nelson
November 14, 1950 – December 4, 2025
Michael A. Nelson, 75, died Thursday, December 4, 2025, at his home in Westerville, Ohio, surrounded by family. He was born in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, and was a full-blood Six Nations Native American. He worked his entire career as a tool and die maker and was the owner of Nelson Tool Corporation, founded on September 29, 1979. The company specializes in ID scarfing, welding, fabrication, and machining. He built the business from the ground up and took pride in doing the work the right way. He was known for sharing his knowledge freely and for his willingness to travel wherever his customers needed him.
Outside of work, he enjoyed boating on the Muskingum River, building custom projects to his own standards, traveling the country for many years by RV with his family and their black lab, Bitter, and fishing on his property in Hocking Hills. He valued honesty, hard work, and putting others first.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Nelson; daughters Michelle L. Nelson and Katherine Piper; brother Warren Nelson; brother-in-law David Martin and his wife, Melissa; granddaughters Christine Weber, Trinity Piper, Annette Weber, and Ellie Weber; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. He was expecting his first great-grandchild, due in 2026.
Joanne Ganyard Eubanks
June 11, 1945 – December 9, 2025
Joanne Ganyard Eubanks, 80, of Westerville, Ohio, died December 9, 2025, after a two-year battle with cancer. She was born in Medina, Ohio. She devoted much of her professional life to arts education and public service. Joanne worked for nearly 30 years at the Ohio Arts Council, where she served as director of the Artist-in-Residence program before retiring in 2011. Her work supported artists and programs across the state and reflected her lifelong commitment to the arts.
She earned a bachelor’s degree in dance from The Ohio State University and later taught modern dance at the Columbus College of Art and Design. Her influence as a teacher was felt by many students who went on to creative careers. Joanne was also an accomplished oboe player and served as first chair for the Cleveland Women’s Orchestra. After auditioning for Leonard Bernstein, she was accepted to the Juilliard School of Music, an achievement she valued throughout her life.
She was known for her generosity, humor, and love of family, friends, and the arts.
Robert John Belding, known to many as Bobby, was born November 9, 1968, in Cleveland, Ohio. He grew up in Westerville and graduated from Westerville North High School in 1987. After high school, he started his own maintenance supply company. In 2010, he moved to San Diego, California, where he lived for 12 years before returning to Columbus in 2022 to focus on his sobriety. During his recovery, he set a goal of starting another business and achieved it with the founding of B and B Janitorial Maintenance Supply in 2024. He also worked in facility services at Otterbein College and cleaned local offices in the evenings.
Bobby was known for his generosity and willingness to help others. He often gave rides to neighbors, helped with appointments, and assisted with groceries. His humor, quick remarks, and caring nature made him a valued friend in his community.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Belding; his mother, Darlene Belding; and his niece, Brooke Belding. He is survived by his brother Richard Belding and his wife, Molli, of Westerville; sister Danielle Belding-Smith of Huntersville, North Carolina; brother Zachary Belding of Brooklyn Heights; nieces Bean Belding and Sophia Smith; and nephews Mason, Chase, and Coleton Belding.
Christine Elizabeth Nance
May 4, 1960 – December 9, 2025
Christine Elizabeth Nance, 65, of Galena, Ohio, died December 9, 2025. She was born in Columbus, Ohio, to Patricia Hughes and attended Westerville North High School, where she met Rusty, who would become her husband and lifelong partner. They were married July 7, 1978, and made their home in Galena, where they raised four children, welcomed seven grandchildren, and became deeply rooted in the Big Walnut community.
Family was the center of Christine’s life. She and Rusty attended every school and sporting event they could, and she was a constant presence in the stands, cheering with pride. She cared deeply for her children and grandchildren and found her greatest joy in time spent with them.
Christine was active throughout the Sunbury and Big Walnut communities. She worked in the school cafeteria, with Big Walnut Athletics, and at Kroger, where she was known for her friendly conversations and warm smile. She knew no strangers and made friends easily. A faithful member of Northgate Church for more than 35 years, she lived her life with kindness, humility, and steady faith.
David C. Wells
December 20, 1939 – December 10, 2025
David C. Wells, known to many as Dave, died Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at his home in Westerville, Ohio, while under hospice care after six months of illness. He was born in Cambridge, Ohio, to Robert C. Wells and Agnes P. Wells. He was a long-time Westerville resident and was known for a warm personality that filled a room.
Dave graduated from Cambridge High School and went on to build a successful career in sales and marketing. He took pride in his work and in the relationships he built along the way.
Dave shared 58 years of marriage with his wife, Wanda. They celebrated their anniversary on December 7, 2025. Even while seriously ill, Dave made sure the day was marked with flowers and chocolate for Wanda. His devotion to his family was evident throughout his life.
He was a loving husband and father and a man of strong Christian faith. His family takes comfort in his belief that he is now at rest with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Andrew C. Frey
July 31, 1929 – December 11, 2025
Andrew C. Frey, 96, a longtime resident of Union County, died early Thursday morning, December 11, 2025, at his home on the family farm. He was born in Westerville to Emanuel and Georgia Frey and was one of four children. He graduated from Westerville High School in 1947 and spent his entire working life as a farmer, beginning on his family’s farm in Westerville.
He married Evelyn G. Held on June 1, 1952. In 1958, they moved to the Marysville area, where he farmed his own land for more than 60 years. His work included milking cows in the early years and later raising corn, hay, wheat, and soybeans. He also enjoyed time in the woods, splitting wood and clearing land with family members.
Andrew was a man of strong faith and followed sermons from LaRue Baptist Church when his health limited travel. He was soft-spoken, humble, and known for his gentle manner and easy smile. His greatest love was his family, whose support meant everything to him.
