Westerville Obituaries - May 11, 2025
George Wilbur Gornall, 85, of Westerville, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2025. Born November 22, 1939, he graduated from Reynoldsburg High School and Otterbein College and earned a master’s degree from Ohio State University. George spent 53 years as an educator, serving in Southwestern City Schools, Grandview Heights High School, and Bishop Watterson High School.
He is survived by his wife, Leona; children, Lisa (Peter) and George (Lauren); grandchildren, Alexander, Kassidy, and Kaedance; sister, Harriet Wengert; brother, William Gornall; and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, Evert and Marie, and brothers, Donald and Thomas.
Visitation will be held Monday, May 19, from 9:30 to 10:20 a.m. at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 313 N State Street, Westerville, followed by a Mass at 10:30 a.m.
Janet L. (Allen) Gething, 87, of Westerville, passed away peacefully at home on May 2, 2025. Born February 19, 1938, to James and Clara Lou Allen, she married the late Randall J. Gething.
Janet was a Central College Presbyterian Church member, where she volunteered in the office and food pantry. She retired from the Ohio Historical Society in 2004 and was active in the Order of the Eastern Star, the Rebounders Club for the OSU Lady Buckeyes, and several golf leagues. A dedicated fan of Ohio State athletics, she spent many years enjoying games and community activities through the Westerville Senior Center.
Jack Dean Semon, 92, of Westerville, formerly of Marietta, died April 30, 2025. Born February 24, 1933, in Marietta, he was a 1951 graduate of Marietta High School and served more than 20 years in the U.S. Air Force. After retiring from military service, he spent two decades as a finishing carpenter with Harrison Construction.
Jack was an avid square dancer, roller skater, and instructor. He was a life member of the VFW and American Legion, active in the Elks, Shrine Club, Masons, AmVets, and Moose Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, and watching westerns and nature programs. He is remembered for his humor, generosity, and dedication to others.
Eunice Gill, 92, of Westerville, passed away on May 5, 2025. She was born January 17, 1933, in Norwalk, Ohio, to Roy and Sally Krespach. A U.S. Postal Service retiree, Eunice loved reading, quilting, gardening, and spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Kenneth Gill, her brother Roy Eugene Krespach, her sister Pat Finley, and her son Timothy Roettker.
