Sharon Louise Kyle
December 10, 1946 – May 20, 2026
Sharon Louise Kyle, formerly Sharon Louise Neal, died May 20, 2026, in Westerville, Ohio. She was 79.
Born in Dayton, Ohio, to Stanley and Ruth Neal, Sharon spent her childhood in Brookville and Beavercreek. A 1964 graduate of Beavercreek High School, she earned a bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University in 1968 and later a master’s degree in education from University of Dayton.
While attending Ohio State, she met William “Bill” Elwood Kyle. They married July 6, 1968, and moved to Cadiz in 1970. Sharon taught mathematics at Cadiz High School and later Harrison Central High School, where she influenced generations of students until her retirement in 2005. She also coached girls volleyball, led academic challenge teams, and assisted with school plays and musicals.
Sharon enjoyed reading, gardening, flowers, puzzles, games, crocheting, and other crafts. She was a longtime member of the Presbyterian Church of Cadiz and volunteered with the church’s prayer shawl ministry. In later years, she especially treasured time with her grandchildren and visits to the beach.
Janet Echelbarger DeLong Matthews
July 28, 1927 – May 23, 2026
Janet Echelbarger DeLong Matthews, 98, of Westerville, Ohio, passed away peacefully May 23, 2026. She was born in Columbus to Chalmer B. Echelbarger and Norene Buzby Echelbarger.
Janet retired from Bank One in 1992 after 31 years of service and was a familiar presence for many years at the Uptown Westerville office. She grew up on a farm on Morse Road, attended Central College Schools, Westerville High School, and Mifflin High School, where she graduated.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands Chester DeLong and Wesley Norman Matthews; five brothers; one sister; three half-brothers; and two half-sisters.
She is survived by daughter Carolyn Veerjee and Jim Nagy; son Dale DeLong and Patricia Roetzel; stepson Mark Matthews and Gail Matthews; stepdaughter Marla Good and Kevin Good; grandchildren Omar Veerjee and Zane DeLong; several step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and step-great-grandchildren; sister Kay Atwood; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Janet enjoyed puzzles, art projects, gardening, flowers, community life, and travel, including trips to Florida, Georgia, the western United States, and Hawaii.
