Westerville Obituaries - September 29, 2024
Jimmy D. Shaw, age 90, of Westerville, passed away on September 22, 2024, at Riverside Hospital. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Jimmy retired from Anheuser-Busch and previously worked at Meadow Gold Dairy. He was a member of Central College Presbyterian Church, Ye Olde Buzzard's Club, Anheuser-Busch Breakfast Club, and Mustang Club of Ohio. A graduate of Westerville High School Class of 1952, he is survived by his wife Mickey; children Steve (Cathy) Shaw, Rob (Sandy) McInerney, and Steve (Kathy) McInerney; grandchildren Whitney and Derek Shaw, Clay (Anya), Matt, and Sam (Kennedy) McInerney; and sister Sue Ziegler. He was preceded in death by his son Michael Shaw; parents Clarence "Toot" and Florence Shaw; brother John Shaw; and sister Betty Bumgartner. Visitation will be held at Moreland Funeral Home on October 1, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by a service at 1 p.m. Interment at Blendon Central Cemetery.
Edward G. St. Clair, 78, of Westerville, OH, passed away on September 13, 2024, at his home. He was a devoted husband to Carolyn, a wonderful father to Tony and Todd, and a caring grandfather to Natalie, Haley, Joe, Jordyn, and Landon. Born and raised in Columbus, Edward attended Eastmoor High School, served in the U.S. Army, and earned a bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering from Franklin University. His career with Lennox Industries took him and his wife to Marshalltown, Iowa, in the early 1990s, before retiring back to central Ohio around 2008. Edward loved visiting the library, traveling (he explored 49 of the 50 states, never making it to Alaska), reading joke books, spending time with his grandchildren, and watching local news. Known as a man of few words with a heart of gold, he will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Go Bucks!
Jerry A. Miller, 64, of Mount Vernon, OH, passed away on September 24, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He dedicated 25 years to the Westerville School District, particularly in grounds maintenance, before moving to second shift. Jerry bravely fought pancreatic cancer for a year, maintaining a positive attitude and working every day until entering hospice care the day before he passed. Born on January 19, 1960, in Lancaster, OH, to Ron Elsworth and Diana Gail Miller, he married his long-time partner, Michelle Chilcote, on March 14, 2019. A U.S. Army veteran, he served from 1977 to 1980. Known for his simplicity, skill in fixing things, and love for home projects, Jerry was the go-to person for any project, including building birdhouses for Noah and the family. He enjoyed catch-and-release fishing, cherished his truck, tractor, and tools, and had a passion for aviation, especially military aircraft. Above all, he prioritized taking care of his family and friends.
Saundra Marie St. Amant, age 81, of Westerville, Ohio, passed away on September 18, 2024. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lionel "Saint" Amant and Helen St. Amant, and her siblings, Bud St. Amant and Patty Blankenship. Saundra is survived by her children, Traci (Michael) Mason and Ty Lane, and her grandchildren, Chrishanna Mason and Zeke Lane. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Moreland Funeral Home in Westerville, followed by a funeral service at 1:30 PM at Blendon Central Cemetery.
Eleanor L. Deskins, age 91,of Westerville, passed away on September 28, 2024. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends, who are invited to leave their condolences on her memorial page. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Moreland Funeral Home, 55 E Schrock Rd, Westerville, OH 43081. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM at the same location.
