Westerville Crew Sets Fall Regatta Schedule
Westerville Crew has added several major fall regattas to its 2026 calendar, including the Blake Haxton and Speakmon Memorial regattas Oct. 24-25 at Griggs Reservoir.
The team also plans to compete at the Head of the Cuyahoga Sept. 26 in Cleveland, Head of the Ohio Oct. 3 in Pittsburgh, Head of the Charles Oct. 16-18 in Boston and Head of the Hooch Nov. 7-8 in Chattanooga.
Hunger Heroes 5K Set for Aug. 29
WARM’s Hunger Heroes 5K will be held Saturday, Aug. 29, at the Westerville Sports Complex, 325 N. Cleveland Ave.
A children’s race begins at 8:40 a.m., followed by the 5K at 9 a.m. Registration is $40.
The event supports WARM’s work with families experiencing food insecurity in the Westerville community.
“Every step taken during the Hunger Heroes 5K helps strengthen our community and supports families experiencing food insecurity,” WARM Director of Development and Fundraising Sara Acocks said.
Westerville North Volleyball Tops Buckeye Valley
Westerville North defeated Buckeye Valley 2-1 in volleyball action Aug. 22 at Westerville North High School, according to the submitted event report.
North secured the match with a 15-8 victory in the third set.
Chilcote Wins Tennis Final in Westerville
Jake Chilcote defeated Ethan Remy in the men’s singles final of the 93rd News Journal Tennis Tournament in Westerville on Aug. 22, according to the submitted report.
Chilcote won the opening set 6-1 before Remy answered with a 6-1 victory in the second. Chilcote took the deciding tiebreak 10-8.
Westerville Schools Add Late-August Fixtures
Several Westerville high school teams have upcoming contests on the schedule.
Westerville North boys soccer is scheduled to face Northland Aug. 24, while North’s girls tennis team will play Westerville Central the same day. Westerville North and Central also are scheduled to meet in girls volleyball Aug. 27.
Westerville South has girls soccer and girls volleyball matches against Thomas Worthington scheduled for Aug. 27.
Westerville Central boys varsity golf is scheduled to compete Aug. 24 at Rattlesnake Ridge Golf Club.
Middle School Volleyball and Football Dates Announced
Westerville middle school athletic schedules include several upcoming matchups.
Walnut Springs is scheduled to face Heritage in girls volleyball Aug. 24, New Albany in football Aug. 26-27 and Waggoner Road in girls volleyball Aug. 26.
Heritage Middle School also has a girls volleyball match against New Albany scheduled for Sept. 10.
