Calo to receive lifetime achievement award
• Former Westerville South boys basketball coach Ed Calo will receive a Lifetime Achievement Award during the Central Ohio High School Sports Awards ceremony June 22 at Upper Arlington High School.
Calo’s selection recognizes a coaching career closely associated with Westerville South basketball and the school’s athletic history. The award honors his years of work with student-athletes and his influence on the program beyond individual seasons and game results.
The lifetime achievement recognition will be presented during the same ceremony at which the top central Ohio high school athletes from the 2025–26 school year will be honored. Several Westerville athletes are among the spring nominees.
Westerville athletes named spring award nominees
• Eight athletes with Westerville ties were named spring nominees for the 2025–26 Central Ohio High School Sports Awards. Winners will be announced during the June 22 ceremony.
• Westerville North nominees are Kacee Bohan and Gabby Connor, both in girls flag football.
• Westerville South nominee RaShaun Benham was selected in boys volleyball.
• Westerville Central nominees are Mackenzie Coffman and Audrey Reed in girls flag football, Hannah Pullins in softball, Robert Young in boys track and field, and Symone Smith in girls track and field.
Westerville Crew
• Westerville Crew is offering Youth Learn to Row camps at Hoover Reservoir for students entering grades six through 12. Remaining sessions are scheduled for June 22–25, June 29–July 2, July 13–16, and July 20–23. Sessions run from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
• The Westerville Crew juniors team, open to students in grades eight through 12, is practicing from 4:15 to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday throughout the summer at Hoover Reservoir.
Community Sports
• Westerville’s July 4 celebration at the Westerville Sports Complex will include a 5K run, parade, concert series, food vendors and fireworks scheduled for 10 p.m.
